Atsushi Horikawa is Chief Investment Officer for Japan Value Equities. He was appointed Co-CIO in October 2016 and sole CIO in April 2017 to manage the firm's Japanese equity products and lead a team of experienced investment professionals covering Japanese companies. Prior to that, Horikawa was a portfolio manager for Japan Value Equities, having served as Director of Research for the service since 2012. He joined the firm in 2000 as a research analyst, and was named senior research analyst in 2002. Previously, Horikawa worked at Sakura Bank as a business-planning executive. He holds a BA in law from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from Harvard University, and is a Chartered Member of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan. Location: Tokyo
Zhiyuan Tao is a Vice President and, as of 2024, a Portfolio Manager for Japan Value Equities. He is also a Senior Research Analyst on AB’s Value Research team, covering commodities and TMT (technology, media and telecom). Before joining the firm in 2013, Tao worked as a management consultant at Boston Consulting Group and as an engineer at TE Connectivity. He holds a BEng in electronic engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and is a CFA charterholder. Location: Tokyo
